A native of Cameroon (Central Africa), guitarist, composer, and arranger, Vincent Nguini was introduced to music by his grandfather through initiation into traditional drumming (ceremonial and drum communication). While in high school he gave up the drums and diligently began playing guitar up to eight hours a day.
In 1969 Vincent started playing standard jazz and pop music (The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Deep Purple, The Who, Crosby Stills & Nash, Frank Zappa, etc.) in clubs and hotels.
By 1973 Vincent was ready to move to West Africa where he continued to play as a banc leader in Nigeria, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast. It was West Africa where in became very familiar with High Life Music.
Five years later Vincent moved to Paris and arranged music for various African artists. He joined Manu D'Bango's band as lead guitarist and also recorded with Henry Salvador, Slim Pezin, and Dikoto of Ossi Bissa.
In 1987 he moved to America and began playing with Paul Simon as one of the lead guitar players. Since then he has also recorded with Jimmy Buffet, The Neville Brothers, Chris Botti, Michael Brecker, Stanley Clark, Thelma Houston, CeCe Peniston, Etta James (Sisters of Glory), Anton Fig, Jonathan Butler, Hugh Masekela, Peterzaremba, Jeff Muller, Ruben Blade, Marc Anthony, Ethnita Hernandez, Annie Lenox, Peter Towson of the WHO etc...
In the last ten years, Vincent has written and produced five of his own albums; Symphony Bantu, Mezik Me Mvamba, Sunshine Day, the Traveler, and Douma.

Amazing CD! Vincent Nguini has created another enjoyable treat!

I gave four stars because I'm still enjoying the listening of the album. I'm glad to know that Vincent has offer the public something new to "eat". I met Vincent during an air Show in Cameroon in 1998 i believe while working at FM 94 in Yaounde for LES MUSIQUES que J'AIME with Late Jo Mbende. Awesome experience to be close of this giant. I like track 2 with the lady voice and the use of Vincent'guitar. Kongossa reminds me of people gossiping at home and around, people always do right..Evou, hmmmm Vincent O ne Evou nga?? :)) superbe album Vincent, du courage.
